Bain, Tomlinson - marriage June 5, 1885
Some details of the Bain, Tomlinson - marriage June 5, 1885. Marriage of two well known young people in the North Ward.
A very pleasant social event took place last evening, in which two young people well known in the
North ward were parties directly interested. Alexander P. Bain and Miss Arabella Tomlinson were
united in matrimony. The ceremony was performed at the home of the bride by Rev. Theodore Stevens,
of Madison Street M. E. Church in the presence of a select group of relatives and friends, from
Philadelphia, West Chester and other places.
The Bride and groom entered the parlor, which was
decorated with flowers, at 8:30 o'clock when the marriage was solemnized. Miss Tomlinson was
dressed in a handsome suit of white, her entire Silotte being very tasteful and pretty.
After the ceremony, congratulations were tendered, and a wedding collation was then served.
Before departing for their homes the guests were very pleasantly entertained by Mr. McDougal
and Mrs. Reed with their Scotch song.
The Bride received a number of useful and handsome presents. Among them were gifts in Silverware,
set of Chinaware, furniture and articles for the house-hold. After a pleasant time at the brides
residence, Mr. and Mrs. Bain went to their new home at 1031 Upland street, which was previously
furnished for their reception.
